Henry started to make his famous Model T on this new assembly line in 1908, and by 1918 half the cars in America were Model T's.
But, many other exciting things happened in the nineteen hundreds. In 1901, Packard introduced the first steering wheel (before then tillers were used) William McKinley became the first president to ride in an automobile. In 1904 Sturtavant became the first auto maker to have an automatic transmission in one of their cars. The future of the car was really taking shape, and it only got better in the roaring 20's.
